When I upgraded from ActiveSync 3.7.1 to ActiveSync 4.2 I used some instructions I found on the MicroSoft website. Have you had any luck resolving this? It's supposed to force the device to connect with ActiveSync via a USB serial connection rather than using a RNDIS (IP) connection. Windows recognizes the device being connected in Device Manager, but AS is unable to recognize a mobile device. I'm assuming the problem is that Samsung didn't create a USB driver, thus AS is unable to recognize the device when connecting this way.
